Good morning, I am writing to you to report that our rubbish has not been collected today. Every rubbish container in the street has been emptied except for ours. Same with recycling. The problem is that someone stole our rubbish bins (244 and 240 Edwards). We are many residents (14 apartments) and all we have currently is one black rubbish bin. The landlord arranged 2 more bins but they are not the usual black ones, they are blueish, similar to the recycling bins (yet there is a difference). So this morning only one little rubbish bin has been emptied and the other two were left full. Same with the recycling bins. Here all 3 have been left full. The recycling van workers seem to have opened the lids but they decided to leave it in there....This is unacceptable. How will we get by until next Thursday when all bins are exploding with rubbish from 14 apartments? The landlord is doing his best to get new containers but it surely cannot be so difficult to empty the provisional ones? And what is it with not emptying the recycling bins? This is not the first time this happens. This will lead to rats and raccoons going through the rubbish because now we will have to leave new bags of rubbish outside, next to the containers and a few weeks ago we had issues with rodents. I have only been living here under two years and I find it appalling. I am from Europe and I am sorry to say but this does not happen there. Is there no supervising team that controls that the people who are in charge to collect the rubbish are doing their job correctly? I wonder. We are living in very difficult times with the pandemic but these are basic services and I believe that the City of New Haven should enforce clean neighborhoods. I truly hope that this issue can be addressed and that all of us here at 240 and 242 Edwards can have our rubbish and recycling collected like everyone else in the neighborhood. Please take this matter seriously. Best wishes
